The Commemoration of all the Faithfull Departed
(All Souls)
On 2 November, it is especially important to recall the Church’s teaching that there is indeed a Purgatory in which the souls of the saved but imperfect are awaiting the fulfillment of their purification and healing, and that these souls can be greatly helped by the prayers, sacrifices and Masses offered by the living. This is an aspect of the Catholic patrimony that must not be forgotten or de-emphasised. Justice demand that our brothers and sisters in the faith who have died find in us faithful friends who acknowledge that it is indeed a good and pious thing to pray for the dead. Michael Monshau OP.

Into your hands, O Lord, We humbly entrust our brothers and sisters.
In this life you embraced them with your tender love; deliver them now from every evil and bid them enter eternal rest.
The old order has passed away; welcome them into paradise, where there will be no sorrow, no weeping or pain, but fullness of peace and joy with your Son and the Holy Spirit forever and ever. AMEN.
